Human Memory
PSYC 221 SP
This course is designed to provide students with an in-depth overview of the different human memory systems revealed by empirical research in the fields of cognitive psychology and cognitive neuroscience. The different
systems include procedural memory,
working memory, perceptual memory, semantic memory, and episodic memory. In this course, students read the primary literature in the field and make oral presentations of relevant journal articles in weekly class
meetings.
MAJOR READINGS
One textbook, tutorial chapters on relevant topics, and journal articles of original research.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Four in-class examinations, three in-class seminar presentations, and one major paper on some topic in memory.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Memory is examined by lecture presentations, class discussions, and seminar presentations by students. NS&B students or students who do not meet prerequisite requirements, please see instructor. This is s course in the
study area of Cognitive
Psychology.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed
Drop/Add form to the Registrar's
Office.
