Experimental Methods in Psychology

This course will introduce the procedures and issues involved in research in experimental psychology.

Prerequisites: PSYC101 OR PSYC105

SECTION 01

This section will introduce the procedures and issues involved in research in General Experimental Psychology. Topics include the development of research ideas, the choice of the research design, the conduct of the study, and the analysis and reporting of results. Students will collect data, analyze results, and write reports for three studies. One study will use systematic observation, one a between-subjects experimental design, and one a within-subjects design. The research questions will involve human perceptual and motor processes.

Examinations and Assignments
One examination. Three reports writeen in the form of journal articles.
Additional Requirements and/or Comments
A prior or concurrent course in statistics is recommended
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
