Aspects of classical mechanics: Lagrangians (as review), Hamiltonians, Poisson brackets, Euler angles, generators of and other topics.

MAJOR READINGS

Goldstein, CLASSICAL MECHANICS, or a text at a similar level.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Weekly homework assignments a and a final exam.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

A thorough working knowledge of "Newtonian Dynamics" (by Baierlein) may take the place of the specific prerequisite courses.
