The course will center on currently used techniques for protein separation and purification, such as ultracentrifugation, gel electrophoresis and chromatography. Particular attention will be given to the thermodynamic and kinetic principles underlying these separation techniques for isolating and characterizing an unknown protein. Both theory and examples of current applications will be presented.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
