The Nature and Basis of Human Disease
MB&B 195 FA
This course will examine a number of diseases afflicting humans. Readings in the current scientific and popular literature and review articles will be used to discuss such problems as cancer, Alzheimer's Disease and a
number of infectious diseases
including AIDS. The molecular and cellular basis for these diseases will be emphasized.
MAJOR READINGS
SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN, SCIENCE, and the science section of the NEW YORK TIMES
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Two examinations plus an optional paper.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed
Drop/Add form to the Registrar's
office.
