Topology I
MATH 524 SP

General Topology. Introduction to set theory and cardinal numbers. Topological spaces. Separation axioms, continuity, connectedness, compactness, product spaces. Important theorems such as: Urysohn metrization theorem, Hahn-Mazurkiewicz theorem, Baire category theorem, Stone-Cech compactification as well as other selected topics. Professorial whim and student interest may combine to effect the inclusion of other topics, elementary or advanced or both.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Several homework assignments.
