Livy: The Hannibalic War
LAT 232 FA
Livy's reconstruction of the most dramatic confrontation between Rome and Carthage will be examined through selected readings of his HISTORY OF ROME. Discussion will emphasize the relevance of Livy's interpretation of
historical events to the ideology
of the Augustan principate.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
One hour mid-term; three hour final exam; one paper.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
One year of college Latin (or its equivalent) required. Students should consult with instructor before enrollment is completed.
