Portuguese for Spanish Speakers

Required Sequence: LANG155 & LANG156

This course offers students who are competent in Spanish the opportunity to study Portuguese in an accelerated format. Students who are native speakers or who have completed classroom instruction through the upper intermediate level (the equivalent of SPAN112) can seek permission from the instructor to enroll. It is anticipated that by the end of this two-semester course sequence students will be able to read complex texts, easily follow classroom discussion, and proceed to the study of literature and other subjects through the medium of Portuguese.

In addition to scheduled class times students will be required to attend additional regular class sessions run by teaching apprentices, at times to be arranged. Students seeking more information can see Jane Edwards, Director of International Studies, 313 Fisk Hall, 685-3007.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
