Religion and History
HIST 323 SP
The course will examine some ways that historians have understood the role of religion in history. Readings will reflect a wide variety of theoretical, theologial and disciplinary perspectives. They will focus for the
most part on Christianity (Western
and non-Western), with a few titles on Asian and African religions.

Several small papers, one large paper, class participation.

No extensions, no late papers, no incompletes. COL students must take this course credit/unsatisfactory. All other students must take this course for letter grade. There are no prerequisites for the course, but
students must obtain permission from the
instructor to preregister.
This course fulfills a "Critical Theory" requirement for Religion majors.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed
Drop/Add form to the Registrar's
Office.
