Homer: Iliad and Odyssey
GRK 216 SP
The focus of the course will be learning how to read Homer in the original. The course is paired this year with CCIV322 (The Heroic Age of Greece), and class discussion will take up some of the issues raised in that
course. Simultaneous registration is
not necessary, but the secondary readings for this course will overlap.
MAJOR READINGS
or that one. MAJOR READINGS: Selections from the ILIAD nad ODYSSEY in the original Greek; the remainder in English translation.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Continuous readings in Greek and English of both texts; mid-term and final focusing on language mastery; final paper of 10-15 pages which may be combined with paper for CCIV322 if desired.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed
Drop/Add form to the Registrar's
Office.
