A World of Heroes
GRK 201 FA

This course will introduce students to original Greek texts in prose and poetry, with excerpts from five major authors: Aristophanes (selections from Wasps, Lysistrata, and/or Acharnians); Demosthenes (selections from the Prosecution of Neaera); Homer (selections from the Iliad); Herodotus (selections from the Persian Wars); and Sophocles (selections from Oedipus the King).

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Regular assignments in Greek for each class. One exam on each author.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Students should have had one year of college Greek or the equivalent. Regular class attendance.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
