Desire and Fulfillment: Romantic Art, Music, and Literature

The European Romantic period is introduced through a close reading of its visual arts, music, and literature. The focus will be on England, the German-speaking areas, and France, although all readings will be in
English. There will be eight written
assignments, ranging from short, one-page responses to longer essays.
