Rebel Without a Cause/Sweet Little Sixteen: The Social Construction of the Teenager in American Cult
ENGL 310 SP

This course studies the social construction of the teenager in the America of the 40s, 50s, and 60s through music, fiction, film and journalism in an attempt to understand why postwar America constructs this category and defines it as a consumer culture.

This is a seminar in which students shall undertake individual research. Applying students should be prepared to indicate the areas of their purposed research. This course counts towards the English department's historical knowledge requirement.
