Poetry Writing Workshop
ENGL 167 SP

This workshop will focus on student writing with an emphasis on experimentation in form process. In addition to discussing our own work, we will also discuss poems by others, the diverse landscape of poetry today, and the different ways of being a poet in the world.

MAJOR READINGS

THE HANDBOOK OF POETIC FORMS, 2nd edition, by Ron Padgett; other readings to be announced.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Weekly writing assignments; active participation in workshop; final project.

Please send up to 10 pages of poetry to Sheila Kelleher, English Dept. Secretary, 285 Court St., Middletown, CT. 06459-0100 by January 15, 2001.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
