Writing About Places
ENGL 131 SP
This course will explore the long tradition of writing about travel and places and changing attitudes toward crossing cultural borders. Readings will focus largely on the writings of 20th-century travelers. Writing
assignments will include critical and
analytical essays and will encourage students to examine their own experiences with places and cultural encounters.

To apply for admission, complete the application available at 279 Court St., Room 102, or at Butterfield B310. Preference to students whose primary fluency is in languages other than English or who are fluent in more
than one language.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed
