Responsive Writing
ENGL 103 SP
This writing course for students interested in reading and thinking offers practice in the writing of prose forms such as arguments, journals, fables, letters, interviews, in response to a variety of readings.
MAJOR READINGS
Non-fiction prose by various writers including some of the following: James Baldwin, Annie Dillard, Etty Hillesum, Jamaica Kincaid, James McBride, Adrienne Rich, Anna Deavere Smith, Arthur Zajonc.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
In addition to writing weekly papers, students will keep a writer's journal to be collected periodically for evaluation and comments.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed
Drop/Add form to the Registrar's
Office.
