In this course, markets for labor power are studied from the inside out. After a brief introduction and re-orientation to the process of microeconomic analysis, attention is focused on the special features of employment relationships and the implications of such features for labor market outcomes. Topics include wage differentials and discrimination, involuntary unemployment, unions, the economic roles of education and training, and the internal structure of firms.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
