This course is essentially an extended application of the economics of organization to the study of enduring institutions of hunter-gather or societies, such as reciprocal exchange, common ownership, and sharing. Organizational theory is used to understand why these and other institutions vary in form across different hunter-gather societies. Time will be devoted to studies of the ethnographic record.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
