This course presents a structuralist survey of approaches to western concert dance from the Middle Ages to the present. Particular emphasis is placed on the orientation to dance of various choreographers--how dance is conceived, how it is presented and the nature of the choreographer's role. Projects both written and choreographed are required.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
