Dance Composition
DANC 250 SP
Required Sequence: DANC249 & DANC250
This course in creating and performing choreography emphasizes on the diversity of techniques, methods, and aesthetic approaches available to the choreographer. Assignments will revolve around inventing, organizing and
evaluating movement styles and on
solving composition tasks that are drawn from various art mediums. The focus in the first semester is on solo work and movement invention. The second semester focuses on group work. This course is a prerequisite for
DANC371 Choreography Workshop.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Weekly dance composition, journal assignments, short papers and attendance at dance concerts. Work from the semester will appear in the spring dance concert.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Requirement: concurrent enrollment in a dance technique class. Students must participate as members of production crews for two dance concerts during the semester. This is an ampersand course with DANC249. Students
will be required to perform
technical assistance for dance events occurring on campus during the year.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed
Drop/Add form to the Registrar's
Office.
