Physical Chemistry IV: Quantum Chemistry
CHEM 340 SP

This course is an introduction to modern concepts of atomic and molecular quantum mechanics, molecular orbital theory and the chemical bond. Also considered are numerical calculations and qualitative concepts of molecular electronic structure, survey of commonly used approximations in many electron calculations on atomic and molecular systems. It is a survey course for first-year chemistry graduate students, required for the Ph.D.

Graded weekly problem sets plus written midterm and an oral final examination presenting a paper from the recent literature.
