Advanced Printmaking: Japanese Woodblock Technique

Students are expected to have a familiarity with either Eastern or Western relief printmaking methods. Working closely with the instructor, each student will produce a personal and original series of prints that use the range of relief methods. Extensive use will be made of the Davison Art Center collection with particular focus on Hokusai's Manga, on the period of "Japonisme" when Japanese woodblocks had a strong influence on European painting and design, and on the recent collaborations betwee n Euro/American artists.

Course fee $75.00. Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
