This course will examine the art and teaching of Thomas Eakins (1844-1916), with specific attention paid to the content, structure and critical reception of his major exhibition pictures and public commissions.

One short paper; seminar report; research paper.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
