Anthropology of African Americans

This course surveys the ways20th-century anthropologists and African American intellectuals have analyzed African American communities and cultures in the U.S. We will examine the development of anthropological discussions about race and culture, the black family, African American identity, and the African Diaspora and explore how they have intersected with political and intellectual movements.
