20th-Century Japan
ALIT 227 SP
This is an interdisciplinary course that brings together important topics in modern Japan, such as tradition vs. modernity, group vs. individual, politics and economics, with a focus on minority life and literature. The
first three weeks will be devoted
to the study of pre-20th-century Japan to ready ourselves for the main part of this course. The classes will be divided equally for discussions and lectures and will also include films and demonstrations.
